Thrive Ventures Consulting Pte. Ltd. is pleased to announce the appointment of Michael Tan as Senior Board Advisor. With his extensive experience in diplomacy, business consultancy, and investment advisory, Michael will play a pivotal role in shaping the strategic direction of the firm and strengthening its commitment to empowering small and medium enterprises (SMEs) across Southeast Asia.

Based in Cambodia, Michael Tan is the Founding CEO of Aquarii BD Cambodia, a business consultancy and investment advisory firm that he established in November 2021. Aquarii BD Cambodia has been instrumental in connecting businesses and investors, fostering meaningful opportunities, and cultivating strategic partnerships within the Cambodian market.

Under Michael’s leadership, the firm has also been working closely with various investors, business organizations and government agencies, such as the Asian Venture Philanthropist Network (AVPN), Enterprise Singapore – a Singapore government agency that looks after SMEs, the Singapore Business Federation and the Association of Small & Medium Enterprises Singapore among others, to foster greater collaboration within the region’s business ecosystem.

Michael is also actively engaged in Cambodia’s entrepreneurial ecosystem, and collaborates with Khmer Enterprise (KE) – a government agency supporting start-ups and SMEs, various development partners and international NGOs, to foster socio-economic growth and innovation in Cambodia. Since 2021, he has served as an Advisor to the Board of KE.

Prior to founding Aquarii BD Cambodia, Michael served as Singapore’s Ambassador to Cambodia from 2016 to 2020 and held overseas postings in Myanmar, South Korea, and Japan.
During his tenure in the Singapore Civil Service and Foreign Service, Michael was conferred the Excellence in Service Award, the PS21 Star Service Award, the National Day Award for Public Administration Medal (Silver), and the Long Service Medal.
